Greek Warfare

Picture
In Ancient Greek Warfare, they used many different tactics, weaponry and ideas in order to succeed in the wars that they fought. They came heavily equipped, with armor guarding almost every inch of their bodies, swords and shields raised, catapults loaded. The idea was to harm the enemy enough that they would back down from either the number of casualties or the damage that the city has taken from the opposing army's inflictions.
After the Dark Ages, when population started to rise once again, Athens started to grow and eventually managed their democracy, so that they would not be ruled by just one dictator, but by all the people. They grew so that they could raise up a strong army and navy, to be ready for any battle at any moment. The men that were in the military had been trained to know what tactics would be best used in the given situation. For weapons they had bows and arrows, swords, and they had artillery to back them up.
In one specific time, there had been an offering to the Romans, that they thought a peace offering and that the offending army was surrendering. This, as you may know, is known as the Trojan Horse. The Army hid some of it's best soldiers inside the horse, and when they were brought into the city, they snuck out that night to let the rest of their Army inside. The reason they had to do this is because they could not penetrate the walls of the city, and that was their ticket of entry. The battle was brutal and many were killed. This is a great example of one of the many war tactics.
Take a look below and see some of the many different used weapons and tactics.
